Autumn Splendor

In the face of so much human-made cacophony and ugliness all across the world, I don’t have many words today.

Nature, on the other hand, continues to speak eloquently, especially during this transitional season in the northern hemisphere. You saw the glory of aspen trees of the higher elevations in a post two weeks ago. Today I’m sharing a few impressions of the splendid colors that currently grace Colorado’s Front Range. All photos were taken in Colorado Springs during the last week.

I hope you are well and are enjoying Nature’s eloquent expressions, be they autumnal or vernal, depending which half of the globe you inhabit.

  1. Such lovely photos! I saw my first tree with some autumn color last week. Granted, it was only brilliant red, yellow, and orange at the top, for about ten or twelve feet, but it certainly provided a hint of what may yet come.

  2. Nature makes a great refuge from the horrors of the human world, even though it has its own (usually human-inflicted) problems. Your lovely photographs bring a bit of joy and peace with them – thank you for sharing them!

    • Thank you, Ann, you said that very well.
I’m so grateful that Nature continues to share its countless gifts and timeless beauty with us, even though we often don’t appreciate and cherish it. I don’t know what I would do without being able to escape the human-made horrors, at least temporarily.

    • Thank you, Gini and Wally. The colors around town have been wonderful to see, but a cold snap this weekend will likely put an end to them. It will be sad to see them go, but it’s been far too warm, so a cool-down will be welcome.

  3. We finally had our “turning” as they say, but we were then hit with multi-day rains and now plummeting temps (in 20s for this upcoming Halloween). As a result all that beautiful color is on the ground now. Dreading getting out there and having to deal with all that ugh. Love the shots.

    • It’s always sad when the colors don’t change, or change too quickly, or the leaves get blown off the trees prematurely. I guess we wouldn’t appreciate beautiful fall foliage as much if it were perfect every year.
