As I did for my 2016 review, I am again reminding myself of the motto expressed on a historic clock in downtown Colorado Springs: Dum Vivimus Vivamus. While we live, let us live.
The greater my disenchantment with political, religious, and familial strife, the more I seek refuge in nature, camera in tow. Next to books, it is the only place where I can live in the moment, and be utterly happy. The more time I spend outside, the more photos I take of birds and plants. I am sharing some that have not found a home in my previous posts. Unless otherwise noted, all originated in Colorado.
I hope 2017 was a good year for you – and that 2018 will be even better.

Herzlichst,
Tanja

Vielen Dank, liebe Brigitte.

Heute erzählen sie mir was 🙂

A stunning series of images, especially the bird life. The Fall landscape with the Aspens is especially beautiful and reminds me of the richness of our natural world and countryside.
Like you I have become more than a little disenchanted with the civil and religious unrest around the world. I can never understand the ‘why’ or ‘what’ makes people do such terrible things to the innocent and once more I vow to keep to my own little world where the birds and daily happenings around my home remind me of the beauty surrounding us.

Thank you much, Vicki.
I can’t imagine living without all the beauty and life nature offers, and it is so depressing to observe our destructiveness. I am constantly fighting cynicism and resignation, but those are not helpful sensations to effect any positive change.
I wish you better health and much happiness for 2018.
Best,
Tanja

We share the same sentiment for the current American climate (political, not weather). I too have found it more comforting and joyful to be outdoors!
One of the highlights of my year was running into you at Garden of the Gods; that meeting sparked several more ‘meetings’ while on the trailhead; that’s where my people are — on the trailhead. So we go often to fellowship with them, whether near home of far away, whomever they may turn out to be. Thanks for that!!
Happy 2018 to you, Tanja. Your photos are always representative of the beauty of your surroundings. I look forward to more. Cheers!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Shannon. I never cease to be amazed at some of the responses I have received from my “blogging family”. Much more support than from the people who happen to be related. I really appreciate it.
Somehow, somewhere, we find friends who feel and think alike, whether on WordPress, or at Garden of the Gods (or in both places! 🙂
I hope 2018 will be a satisfying and fulfilling year to you and yours.
Warmly,
Tanja

Wow, how gorgeous photos! I enjoyed them all. My favorite is Pikes Peak. It was interesting to see photo from it, because I remember it from Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (car race).
Thank You for this interesting post.

Thank you for stopping by, Miss A. I also fell in love with the kestrel with his fluffed feathers on a cold, cold January day that could have been in Sweden in winter as I imagine it (having only visited your beautiful home country in the summer). I enjoy those clear, crisp mornings.
